I’ve just bought your excellent and fascinating book ‘Fading Ad’s of London’, and I thought you might like to see a little thing I wrote on my public Facebook page (q.v. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=991876007511234&id=492600724105434). The ‘Flickerless Cinema’ sign is now sadly overgrown with ivy since I took that photo, but it’s still there I’m sure. There are also several other old faded ad’s in my area (SE London), as well as quite a few very well preserved old blitz shelter signs similar to the one I posted.
Hello! Thank you for commenting on my blog and for buying my book! So pleased to hear you enjoyed it. I very much enjoyed looking at that piece on your FB page. A real shame the sign is overgrown but I guess in a way it might preserve it for future generations. A treasure to be uncovered.
Thanks, and yes it might survive and be protected by that ivy or be ruined by it; hard to say which. Time will tell the good people of New Cross one day. Meanwhile keep up the good work! Leo
